(10/29/2026) Hi, this page is heavily under construction! It might not be pretty yet, but all the links should work and the chapters themselves should be readable. Check back later for updated info!

Sonic Robotnik is the crowned jewel of all of Dr. Ivo Robotnik's accomplishments, not as his oldest son, but as proof that not even certain death can stop his own genius. The mechanical parts surrounding his chest are why he's alive at all and why he carries the nickname 'Metal'. His path has already been laid out for him: go to a college he finds miserable, get a degree he doesn't want, and work for his father to further boost his already insurmountable, environmentally damaging progress. With so little in his control, Metal finds freedom in only one thing: running.
Amy Rose doesn't come from much. Picked off the streets by a doting young woman with a daughter of her own, Amy discovered the love and warmth of a family that works together. Amy gets the chance to enroll in college so she can provide for her family lacking in fortune. Unfortunately, that means she enrolls in a major she completely hates. She finds solace in brightening others' lives, allowing her to forget that she has no real direction of her own.
They know of each other only through brief, unpleasant encounters around campus. Fate permanently brings their lives together when Amy witnesses an event Metal hopes no one would ever see.
Main Relationship: Amy Rose/Metal Sonic
Supporting Characters: Sonic, Belle, Sage, Espio, Rouge, Dr. Robotnik, Agent Stone (more characters to be added!)
Rating: TEEN - References sensitive topics, eventual suggestive content between adult characters
Length: ~86,016 words
Type: Long fic
Status: Incomplete
Notes:
- This fic is slice-of-life and it's a slow burn. Feelings happen at different speeds, but no one gets together for a long time
- This is a college AU based off of Sonic's semi-futuristic world. There are plenty of things that may feel familiar, but also plenty that is unrealistic
- All non-organic characters are organic (Metal is a hedgehog, Sage is a human, Belle is a mouse, etc.)
- Characters like Metal have medical problems that are not described with names
- I leave room for interpretation for ships outside of Metamy, with a few exceptions. There is married Vectilla and implied Stobotnik since they make up Amy and Metal's families respectively.
- For this fic, "college" and "university" are interchangeable words. Every person in college is over 18
